Here is the backstory, things
not mentioned in the story itself, but maybe
gives you a better understanding of the story
itself...
First things first, this story is based
on believing all of the alien conspiracies:
Roswell, where an alien space craft crashed
landed and the government pulled
aliens from there, alive, kept at Area 51
or some other secret military base. The Government
trying to duplicate the alien technology.
UFO’s
being spotted across the world, abducting
people, performing tests on them sending
them back home.
I can’t say how far in the future,
but the story is the future, Man is in space,
the moon is colonized, Mars is colonized
we have bases on or in orbit of every planet
and 90% of the moons in our little solar
system. We have achieved “warp speed” or “light
speed” and have done some explorations
further out, but nothing major yet.
In this story, Mye
is the experiment, he was an up-and-coming
officer, not a head of the class kind of
guy, but not at the buttom, smart, physically
fit, A great “B” student,
perfect to run experiments on. His background
in the military was spent at the “Desert
Military Facility” where he trained
for a scientific deep space mission. Unbeknownst
to him, here the government introduced alien
dna to his dna, looking for a transformation,
experiments to create a hybred human/alien,
a superior being. The government saw some
changes, nothing promising.
On another level of
the government, there is a push for a major
space exploration, map the universe! We’re going to send
out 45 deep space, ships, on a 3 year missions
to map as much of the galaxy as they can.
The ships have to be totally self-sufficient.
They are based on a large ship with a crew
of approximately 30. About 10% of the crew
are Officers who run the ship and make final
decisions, another 50% are Scientists and
Doctors, while 30% are Military Soldiers
along different ranks responsible for different
tasks and the final 10% are the people who
keep the ship working, engineers, mechanics
and what nots. A break down: 3 comanders
(1. Morrison, 2. Mye, 3. Memphis), 15 scientists,
9 soldiers, 3 ship engineers. Morrison in
charge of everyone, Mye would be head of
the soliders and engineers, while Memphis
would be in charge of the scientists, Dr.
Fists is kinda his own entity. There are
2 shuttle type crafts for planet exploration,
(they are the same type, and can fill the
role of either, but one is more geared for
the scientists, while the other is geared
for the soliders) since the main ship is
not built for landings. (think the movie “Aliens”)
