10, 2008 - So my
brain has been thinking over-time, about stories,
and ideas. I like to think of them as comic
stories, but in reality they are Science Fiction
stories, well wait, they're not stories, they're
ideas that would need to be developed further.
I can see them being used for a Star Trek television
series. I'm sure I could adapt them to the
YSOV universe, so that's what would probably
happen.
Anyways, story idea 1: The
human race is site based, of all the senses
we use vision as the key sense to understand
the world, sure we use the other senses, but
I would say not to the effect of vision. What
if there was a race that used hearing as the
primary sense (and yes I understand that dogs
are more keen to using hearing then we are,
but I mean a developed race) So colors in their
world would be more muted, not as important,
same as design, but the sound that everything
makes, the way vehicles are made, food is presented,
eveything would be audio based. And I'm not
trying to say that if we were hearing based
we would be bad, I would just want to drop
my characters into that kind of a world.
Story idea 2: You know when
you through a town you once lived in, maybe
go by your old childhood house, and you see
something, a bush or anything, and you get
flooded with memories that you had totally
forgot about? Well what if every space had
a memory itself, like the space you are at
right now has a memory, of every event that
ever happened in it, even before your time.
Now what if someone could tap into theose memories?
Interesting?
Like I said, they're just ideas,
I think they could've worked well for Star
Trek: NG, but who knows. I really wanted to
write them down so I wouldn't forget them,
I may never use them, but you never know.

21, 2007 - YSOV UPDATE - I found some
of Mye's journals today, and have posted
them, here on this site. You will find the
links to the right, and I titled them as
he had titled them. 9 15 15 and the fishman
rules. I'm not sure if 9 15 15 is a date,
and if it is an actual account of some event
that has happened in his life, it is probably
a highly stylized event at the most. the
fishman rules, it almost seems like it's
just rambling, it's obvious that something
effected him at some point in his life, something
that led to this. Anyways, read at your own
caution, they're not for the faint of heart.

AUGUST
31, 2007 - On the Tim Sale Forum,
they have decided to do a "Sketch Book" which
is a way of uniting the forum community.
What happens is, we all went in and purchased
a sketch book, and it will be passed between
the members, and each member will draw
some sort of an illustration on a page, draw
a little portrait and then pass it along
to the next member. Well this book has to
go all over the world to reach all the members
and it will then finish up with Tim Sale
where he will add the last illustration,
and then it becomes a gift to him from
the members of his forum. Anyways, I signed
on and will be the first person in the US
to get the book, but the seventh overall.
I kinda have an idea of what I want to do,
but here is I thought I would show some
preliminary sketches of characters to end
up on my page. Oh by the way, here is
a link to the Tim Sale Sketch Book Blog...
oh, by the way again, on the blog you will
find the other sketches other members have
posted. They will be added as the book gets
past around.
JULY 30, 2007 - We made
it back from ComicCon, and the biggest score...

Yes I got to meet Tim Sale, my favorite comic
artist of all time. I was there in time to
get a commission, and had him do the Lois Lane
pen and ink you see above. Tim was a really
nice guy, and it was great to meet him. I've
since started being more active on his forum,
and they guys there are all pretty nice. Make
sure to check out the blog for stories from
ComicCon and the photos page for pics.

24, 2007 -
Halfway to London is here! In all its amaturish
glory. I know I shouldn't be making excuses,
but it is the first comic that I've put together.
I really need to work on illustrating and
coloring. There is some editing concerns,
but that's easily fixed, no one look at
this one before I finished. I am really
happy that I finished it, no matter it's
quality. I do think though, before I start
illustrating "Monkey See,
Monkey Do", that I'll practice my ilustrating
more, and try to find my style. I see in this
one, that my style kind of meandors around
some. Some people have said that it looks "cartoon-y",
which I may be o.k. with, but we'll see.
Keep an eye out for sketches, I'll make it
pretty clear where you can find them, once
they are here. Steve.

July 12, 2007 -
Halfway to London, it's still progressing.
I'm not sure if I stated this, but my new goal
is to have it finished by ComicCon. YES, Rob
and I are going to ComicCon on the 28th. Yes
we're going on a Saturday, the worst day to
go, but we have to go. Rob wants to go, and
I want to go, so we'll fight the crowds. On
Sunday, we are going to visit the USS Midway,
an aircraft carrier turned muesum. It'll be
a great photo op for interiors YSOV.

June 25, 2007 -
Check out the blog for info on "Halfway to London" a
new 10 page comic I'm working on. As soon
as it gets done it'll have a link over on
the right there. Thanks for your support!

June 7, 2007 - O.K. so I e-mail Ian, just some chatting, need to keep his morale up, why he sits over there in Iraq. I don't mention the comic at all, just letting him know what's going on here in my world. Well he replies, and tells me that he's big working on a sci-fi spoof comic, with some amateurish drawings and stuff, and once he can get some of the artwork scanned, he would send me some of it. Well as a bonus, at the end of the e-mail was this, his story for his spoof. Check it out, he's got quite a sense of humor, you might even enjoy it.

June 6, 2007 -
I was watching "On The Lot" last night, it's an "American Idol" type of show, but they are looking for the next great movie director. It's alright, but I really love the tips that give out to the wannabe directors, and how I can use them for home movies and stuff. Well the judges (man does Carrie Fisher look old) were critiqueing one of their movies, and was talking about "establishing shots", and it made me think about comics, and more importantly my thoughts on "directing" YSOV. I know they in comics they have their full panel or full spread pages, but I guess I never that of them as "establishing shots" but
what I great way of thinking about it.

June 4, 2007 - When I have trouble sleeping, I love to have Mye 2.0 running through my head. Maybe reliving a thought from the day, and having Mye show up, doing something spectacular, watching the reactions of people if something like it were possible. I mean, really, just think of the reaction of the world if someone could REALLY fly. We see it all the time in the comics and movies, but if you were someplace with a crowd, and someone flew overhead, stopped and floating there in the sky, looked around at everyone, flew off again. Wow!
Yes, I've been bad about doing my sketching, I've been so busy with other things, the freelance work can keep me really busy at time, and then there is the time with Barb and the girls, when I get a break, I want to rest, not sketch, but I promise, I'll pick up the pad this week, and get something for all of you.
----
May 18, 2007 - I picked up a new freelance job, designing a stuffed animal of all things. It's strange, there is no computer work involved on this project at all, and when I was talking to the people, they asked, you can draw, right? I use to draw quite a bit when I was younger, but have only picked it up again for this project. So I took the job, what's the worse that could happen, they'd fire me. Anyways, they love my designs, and it has really boost my confidence on my drawing. I do know, however, that I've got to get practicing a lot more, especially drawing people. I've been working on an illustration from the story, and my perspective is way off. I've also trying to learn directing, in my head I see the big picture, all the angles, but for the book, I need to pic the best one shot, that give the reader all of the information, but also sets a mood for the shot. I'm moving along further on it, but I have a ways to go. (p.s. I'll post some sketches of the stuffed animal soon)

April 30, 2007 - As you can see there is a new header for the YSOV Comic side of the site. I'm in the slow process of changing up the headers on the entire site, Design Services got it first, and I wanted to do this to the YSOV Comic side, with the characters in the header. I'm still developing the look of the characters, but this is where they are headed. Of course I need to get Mye's look, as how it is to be during this story, vs. what he becomes. Keep a watch on it all. Steve
----
March 12, 2007 - "Your Source of Violence" is COMPLETE! Yes, the entire story is up for your critique. Read it all and let me know what you think. I've talked about making some adjustments to certain areas; however I would love to get some input first. For now though, I'm really going to start focusing on sketching. I've picked the scene that I would like to map out for the comic book layout testing. I also need to do more character sketches, and finalize their "look" Look
for the sketches link to be broken down into
different sections for characters, vehicles,
panels and so forth.
----
March 9, 2007 - Check out the new header! Is this future Mye? You need to keep reading the comic Y.S.O.V. to find out. Scene 10 is going a little slower then anticipated, but it's up and readable. With all the starts and stop, I hope it flows, and I'm not feeling exactly thrilled about it, so there maybe some re-working of it. Anyways it's up, I'm working on 11 and trying to do more sketching. Until next time...
----
February 28, 2007 - Scene 9 has been added, and I'm deep into Scene 10, should be posted rather quickly. The story should come to a close soon. I've looked back at some old notes, and have already discovered a missing section that needs to be added to an earlier scene, but that will come once the whole story is up. Oh yeah, I've also added new links to get you to any scene you'd like instead of going through the whole story.

February 13, 2007 - EnoSphere or Falcon. Originally the small crafts that would take people back and fourth from the planets were what we called Enosphere 1 and 2. They were sphere's covered in some sort of liquid metal skin while flying through space, they could control their flight path to an extent but were mostly controlled by the mother ship. When they were docked to the ship, the liquid skin would be sucked into the ship, exposing and exo-skeleton, type craft that was all business. When they went to planets, they never really landed, they just kinda hovered off of the planet surface by a few feet, the liquid skin being sucked into the sphere, and the mother ship holding them in place. BUT, recently I decided to go with the traditional shuttle craft, the Falcons, where they were piloted and landed, nothing new nor different. Which would you prefer, e-mail me and let me know. Thanks, Steve.

Everyone has a story
to tell, you know, the "Great American Novel" well, so do I. It'll probably never live up to that kind of hype, but it is story (o.k. I notice I keep using the term "story",
but it's really a comic book/graphic novel)
I've been working on for many years. It goes
back to my college days, lot's of Star Trek
and Phillip K. Dick novels, and a lot of
college imagination. It started really rough,
very surreal, and slowly over the years has
evolved into the bits and pieces you see
here.
My friend Jeff and I really started working on it back in '95. We really started developing the story, giving it a beginning, middle and end. We also started do more sketches on the characters and ships. Unfortunately, we kinda slowed down on it and eventually stopped working on it altogether.
Since then, I've picked it up every now and then and worked on it for a couple of days here and there until recently. I've always thought it would be cool if the internet community could have an input, and maybe we could get this story finished once and for all. Of course if I gave it out to the internet, it would stop being my story, and I never really cared for that. So I guess I decided, that I would post it, and let it be read by anyone who could find it, and then we'll go from there.
As for now, I guess the dream is that I will finish writing this comic/graphic novel, and find someone (Ian) to illustrate it for me. I probably will never rest until it is finished.
So if you have any thoughts, questions or ideas, let me know, I'll be glad to hear any comments you might have.
