Monkey See, Monkey Do
A Surreal Adventure

Fade in

Ext. - Outside movie theater, lots of people on the street.  People in line waiting to buy tickets spot lights shining into the night sky.  Jeff and Steve walking into theater.

Int. - Jeff and Steve moving rapidly through theater.  Jeff is ahead of Steve.  Inside it is very crowded with people.

            Jeff - Hurry up, we don't want to be late.

            Steve - I'm coming

Jeff runs up stairs crowded with people.  Steve is falling behind due to the crowds.  There are many staircases going to the upper levels.  Steve looks confused from the different staircases, he's not sure which set he should take.  Steve selects a set and heads up them.  They end at a closed wall.

            Steve - Dang!

Steve goes back down the staircase, and goes up to another set that leads to the balcony.  Steve sees Jeff sitting, and moves to join him.

            Jeff - Steve over here

Steve sits down next to Jeff

            Steve - Man, what’s was with all the staircases?

Steve feels cramped in his seat, not enough legroom.  Steve puts his arm on the armrest but Jeff's arm is already there.  Steve wiggles in his chair and once again tries to put his arm on the armrest, but again finds that Jeff's arm is already there.

            Steve - I'm going to move over a seat.

Steve gets up and moves over one seat to put an empty seat between him and Jeff.  As soon as he sits a couple walks up to the aisle and asks Jeff to move over a seat so that they could sit down.  Steve's head drops.

            Steve - S*@t

            Jeff - Sorry

Steve once again feels cramped.  The lights fade in the theater and previews start to show on the big screen.  People start to cheer and applause.  A black female usher begins walking around the theater with a small flashlight, she is checking the audience for weapons.  She comes up to our aisle, and looks directly at Jeff

            Usher - Excuse me sir, but do you have any weapons on you?

She flashes her flashlight on Jeff's face

            Jeff - No, I left mine at home.

She shines her flashlight on his pants, they are all torn up like they've been through a shredder.  There is a small bump in his pants just below his knee.

            Usher - What's this?

She puts her hand through one of the rips in his pants and pulls out a small red, plastic box, the size of a tire patch kit.

Aerial view, dusk - Everything in black and white.  Steve and what looks like a smaller mammal are standing on a dirt road inlet in the countryside.  On one side of the road is a ranch style fence on the other side of the road is a row of shrubbery.  Off in the distance over the rolling hills we can see the roofs of a small village.

View of Steve and a Monkey.  Everything is black and white except for our main characters, Steve is wearing a red sweater, and the monkey is wearing a beret.  They stand there and look around, and stop and stare at the town in the distance.

            Steve - Well, I guess we can check out that little village over there.

Steve and the monkey start to walk down the road, in the distance there is a light in the sky, it flashes from one side of the sky to the other.  Steve notices this.  The light moves faster and then flies over to Steve and the monkey.  It is a UFO, Steve and the monkey look up at it, it hovers over them about 100 yards in the sky.  A light turns on and shines directly onto the monkeys face, and after a moment it turns off and the UFO flies into the night sky and disappears.

            Monkey - We'd better hurry up if we want to get to that village before it gets to late.

            Steve (looking confused) - Ahhhh, yea... (pause) you're right lets get going.

Steve and the monkey continue down the road towards the little village.

Steve and Monkey are in the little village.  It looks to be a European village, all the roadways are narrow and made of brick.  All the structures are made of gray brick, and the houses are built right next to each other, wrought iron fences surround all the houses.  Everything here is still black and white, except of course Steve and the Monkey.  And this time there are window sill planters that have lollipops growing from them, these to are in color.

Steve and the Monkey start down one of the city streets.  They come up to a parking lot where lots of cars are parked.

            Monkey - What are all of these things?

            Steve - These are cars.  People use them to get around easily and quickly.

            Monkey - Can we take one?

            Steve - I don't see why not.

Steve and the Monkey walk up to a Gray Ford Tempo

            Monkey - Can I drive?

            Steve - Sure.

The monkey gets into the driver side and Steve walks around to the passenger side and gets in.  The Monkey puts the car in reverse and backs right into another parked car.

            Steve - No!  That's wrong.  "R" is for reverse, if you want to go forward you have to put the shifter into "R"

            Monkey - Oh

The monkey does not shift the gear but the car starts to go forward and the Monkey pulls out of the parking lot and heads down the street.  Steve just sits back and looks out the window enjoying the scenery.  As they pass by all of the houses Steve again notices the lollipops growing out of all the windowsills.  The lollipops, Steve and the Monkey are still the only things in color.

The gray Ford Tempo approaches an intersection.  The light is red and the Monkey drives through it.

            Steve - No!  Stop!

The car screeches to a stop just on the other side of the intersection.

            Steve - No, you can't do that.  Red lights mean stop.  It is illegal to go through them, you can get a ticket for that.

            Monkey - Oh I'm sorry, I just thought it was such a pretty color.

Steve notices a police car parked in a tunnel that goes through the side of the building.  We can't see the police officer but we can just feel him starring at us.

            Steve - I think we should take the car back and walk instead.

            Monkey - Maybe you're right.

They turn around and take the car back to the same parking lot and start walking down the street, going down the same road they just drove down.  When they get to the same intersection that the monkey drove through Steve sees in the middle of the intersection, just floating there 3 big buttons.  They must be 3 feet tall and a foot wide.  They are all glowing green, with a yellow border and insignias on the inside that are also yellow, each insignia slightly different then the one next to it.

            Steve - I wonder what those buttons are for?

            Monkey - Try pushing one to see what it does.

Steve reaches up into the sky and touches the middle button.  Just then the sky changes colors.  It is now orange with gray squiggles moving through out it.

            Steve - Wow! That is cool!

            Monkey - push it again, see what happens.

Steve pushes the button again.  The orange turns to a rainbow colors moving and swirling about, however the gray squiggles stay exactly the same.

            Steve - I like this one, let's just keep it this way.

The Monkey nods, and they continue to walk down the street.  They come up to a courtyard that has planters running around the perimeter with lots of lollipops growing in them.  On one side of the court yard there is a water fountain.  On the inside of the court yard there is an assortment of small businesses.  One of the businesses is an animal store with a wide assortment of animals.  Steve and the Monkey go up to the window and look inside.  Inside all the animals are starring at Steve and the Monkey and in one corner there is a monkey in a cage that is starring harder than any of the other animals.  He is not only starring, but he looks really mad.  The Mad Monkey reaches around to the outside of his cage and opens the door and leaves his cage and starts to walk towards the door.  Steve and the Monkey get a look of suprise and anxiety on their faces.

            Steve - I think we better leave.

            Monkey - Yeah, he doesn't look to happy.

Steve and the Monkey start heading towards the opening of the courtyard.  In the sky are the same three buttons they saw earlier, but they pay no attention to them.

            Mad Monkey - Hey! (His finger pointing at Steve and the Monkey)

Steve and the Monkey stop, and slowly turn around to look at the Mad Monkey.  The Mad Monkey still looks really pissed.  Mad Monkey stands there and hunches over, he chest thrusts, like he is about to throw up, and then something appears from his mouth.  It is black and covered with a greasy fluid; it slowly continues to pour from his mouth.  Mad Monkey reaches up to it and helps it out.  It is a baby pig.  Mad Monkey handles it with care and takes it over to the fountain and places it gently in the water.  Mad Monkey then looks back over at Steve and the Monkey.  Mad Monkey starts to slowly back up and in the process he changes into a giant pig.  Steve and the Monkey start to slowly back up but then the Mad Monkey/Pig jumps up and shoots itself at Steve.  The Monkey however pulls one of the lollipops out of a planter, rolls it on the ground to get the lollipop spinning and holds it up directly in front of Steve's face.  Mad Monkey/Pig hits the lollipop and bounces off and lands almost where he started.  Steve is relieved.  But Mad Monkey/Pig is backing up again and again jumps up at Steve.  The Monkey once again spins the lollipop on the ground and moves it to cover Steve’s face.  This time however he is to slow.  Mad Monkey/Pig bites into Steve's neck and takes him down to the ground and begins to chew on Steve's neck.

the Monkey stands in the courtyard.  The three buttons are still floating in the background.  Steve is nowhere to be seen, neither is Mad Monkey/Pig.  In the Monkey's hand is a brown bag with something in it.  The Monkey turns, looking around and then decides to leave.  As soon as he leaves a gentleman in his forties with a stein in his hand comes down the street.  He sees the Monkey standing there with a bag in his hand.

            Beer Drinking Man - Hello there!  What have you got in the bag.

the Monkey opens the bag and pulling it forward to show the man.  We see inside the bag.

            Monkey - It's Steve's shoes.  I've got to find him to give him his shoes back

To Win Game:

Must talk to policeman - He knows the code to get back to movie theater.

Must return to Movie to get red box. - Red Box = Steve's Dehydrated body, 2" tall, minus the head.

Must collect Steve's dehydrated body, and return to European village.

Note:  there are two ways to win, 2nd place and 1st place.

To Win 1st Place:

Must take Steve's body back to fountain, baby pig is still lying in fountain.  Put Steve's body in fountain and it is returned to full size.

Monkey than realizes he cannot move the body, because it is to heavy.

A dark day

go back to farm house, see dance steps to summon UFO.  Use correct dance steps, UFO shows up and takes you aboard UFO.  Tell them what you want.  They need Steve's body, so they go to it and reattach head.

To Win 2nd Place:

Find Dance steps to summon UFO.  Use correct dance steps, UFO show up and takes you aboard UFO.  Tell them what you want.  Steve's body is to small.  They shrink head and reattach to body.  Steve wakes up, 2 1/2 inches tall.
